What is Tarot?

The tarot is one of the oldest sources that describe our paths through life with all their ups and downs and light and dark sides. In a journey through the Tarot it is possible to experience all the stages and challenges of life itself, and is a symbol of the process of individualisation – the circular development of the “self” (C.G.Jung).
The tarot, first known as Tionfi, and later as Trocchi, Trock, and other names, is basically like a suit of playing cards used from the mid-15th century in various parts of Europe to play games such as Italian Trocchi and French Trot. From the late 18th century until the present time, Trot has also been used by mystics and occultists in their efforts at divination or as a map of mental and spiritual pathways.
The Tarot helps us understand the stages and issues in life, which are similar for all of us and help to give us a picture about the particular situation we are in, and exactly what we are experiencing so it is possible to interpret the individual card in connection with a specific question or life-situation.
